Allotment Tenancy Conditions

The Tenant shall:

  1. Maintain the allotment in a clean and good state of cultivation.
  2. Not cause any nuisance or annoyance to the tenant of any other allotment nor obstruct any path around the allotment.
  3. Not bring animals onto the allotments. These are food-growing areas.
  4. Not sub-let any part of the allotment to a third party without the permission of the Allotment Organiser.
  5. Keep the grass around the allotment and adjacent drives properly cut. Grass cutters are provided free of charge for this purpose.
  6. Not erect any building or fence on the allotment.
  7. Exercise great care if burning vegetable matter on the allotment.

    a) This must only be done when the wind DOES NOT blow smoke towards neighbouring houses in the vicinity of Albany Road and Albany Drive or towards the cricket field when a game or practice is in progress.
    b) Bonfires MUST NOT be lit in still air conditions
    c) Bonfires MUST NOT be left UNATTENDED as the wind direction around the allotments can change rapidly

  8. Pay the allotment rent within two months of the beginning of the allotment year - the first day of October. Rent for an allotment becomes due on the first day of October each year and must be paid to the Allotment Organizer using the application form.
  9. Not use hosepipes to water allotments.
  10. Not use the allotment for the storage of equipment not related to the cultivation of the allotment.
  11. Inform the Allotment Organiser of change of address/telephone number

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

Tenants must ensure that any machinery used on the allotments is used in a safe manner. The Bishop’s Waltham Gardening Club accepts no responsibility for the unsafe use of machinery by Tenants.
While every effort is made to ensure that machinery provided by the Bishop’s Waltham Gardening Club is safe to use, it is the Tenant’s responsibility to ensure that such machinery is safe to use and is used in a safe manner.
Tenants are responsible for their own safety and the safety of anyone accompanying them onto allotment land.

WARNINGS:

Allotments can present dangers to children (water butts, glass cloches, tools, etc)
The Bishop’s Waltham Gardening Club accepts no liability for the loss of tools or equipment from allotments or for loss from or damage to Tenant’s vehicles.

This Tenancy agreement may be terminated if the Tenant does not observe the above rules or if the tenant is in arrears according to the constitution.
